Acceleration and vibration analysis for cask transport

Your responsibilities
In the current project, the student will work in the Back End group of Axpo with emphasis on the transportation casks of spent fuel from the Beznau nuclear power plant (KKB). During this project, the student will be involved in measuring data indicating the acceleration and possible vibration that potentially stresses the cask trunnions during the transportation. Focus will be given on the transportation with the so-called “Goldhofer” transport system and a truck trailer. The expected outcome is a profile for the street from the intermediate storage facility ZWILAG in Würenlingen to KKB and vice versa.

  • Engineering basics and ability to plan a test series with complex systems.

We offer
You will have the opportunity to work alongside nuclear experts and apply your academic and research background in real industrial applications. In this project you will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid mode from Axpo’s HQs in Baden but also you will spend some time at KKB and ZWILAG. Depending on the outcome of the project, the internship could be extended.
