The nuclear fuel assemblies include numerous components made of different materials (alloys for structure and ceramics for fuel itself). For the purposes of efficiency and error prevention a computer-aided verification of nuclear fuel quality data shall be developed. The first part of the code has been developed and this shall be improved and extended by two further modules working with data from the fuel deliveries for the nuclear power plants Leibstadt and Beznau. The platform and shape are existing but can be adapted and are waiting for the applicant’s creativity. During the internship we plan for a visit at a nuclear fuel fabrication facility.
- Basic knowledge of code programming
- Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering
- Skilled in MS Office
- Experiences with other data processing and evaluation software favorable
- Fluent at least in English; German favorable
- Endurance, curiosity, creativity
You will have the opportunity to work alongside nuclear experts and apply your academic and research background in real industrial applications. In this project you will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid mode (office work in main headquarters in Baden and home-office). Depending on the outcome of the project, the internship could be extended and/or a master thesis topic could be proposed.
