With current advances in data science, nuclear-related projects typically rely on an ever-increasing amount of data. The data structures always exhibit internal connections and dependencies. Nowadays, it has become of paramount importance to develop methods and tools in order to (i) generate interpretable graphic image of those complex relations, (ii) make it possible to efficiently navigate through the pool of data. This industrial internship project is part of a program that develops innovative tools in support of the nuclear safety experts for their daily work. Goal of the internship is to evaluate and develop innovative methods that will make complex nuclear-related information more transparent and intuitive to third parties (peers, public). The student will work mainly with accident-related (see guidance ENSI-A01) as well as component safety-classification data structures (see guidance ENSI-G01). Prior to starting development for KKL, a thorough literature survey and review of related research & development projects shall be conducted. On some occasions, the student will also have to work with a senior engineer on specific algorithm development related to automatic treatment of data.
- Solid programming skills in Java, C# or Python.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access and relational databases.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside nuclear experts and apply your academic and research background in real industrial applications. In this project you will have the opportunity to work at the Leibstadt nuclear power plant. Depending on the outcome of the project, the internship could be extended.
