Your responsibilities

In this project the student will have the opportunity to dive into the modelling of transient events for the Leibstadt nuclear power plant (KKL) using state-of-the-art computational tools for neutronics and thermal-hydraulics. The work will focus on the familiarization of the transient modelling and on systematically identifying/reviewing the operating conditions that lead to the most challenging scenarios for an operational Boiling Water Reactor.

Your profile

  • Familiarity with BWR technology
  • Coding skills (Python or Matlab; bash would be an advantage)
  • Independent work attitude and approaching tasks with critical thinking
  • Comprehensive technical writing skills
  • Written and spoken fluency in English (German is a plus)

We offer

You will have the opportunity to work alongside nuclear experts and apply your academic and research background in real industrial applications. In this project you will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid mode (office work in main headquarters in Baden and home-office). Depending on the outcome of the project, the internship could be extended and/or a master thesis topic could be proposed.
