Your tasks
The FREMES (FreeREleaseMEasurementSystem) earth measurement system evaluates gamma spectra for uranium using a calibration determined by model calculations based on uniform activity distribution. In a new application, a more complex evaluation is now to take place, in which the most difficult to detect activity distribution is used and several measurements are used for the evaluation. Your task is to further develop the algorithm used so far to meet this requirement, as well as to determine the corresponding geometries through model calculations. The algorithm is then to be tested for correct execution on real and simulated data. .

Your profile
You are basically familiar with gamma spectrometry, its evaluation and calibration (ideally through model calculations). You also have basic knowledge of calculation software for efficiency calibration (e.g. MCNP, Geant4, etc.) and are willing to familiarise yourself further. Under professional guidance, you are able to work on the measurement task in a structured and analytical manner, to develop the corresponding calculation and measurement steps and proceed with appropriate care and accuracy. Knowledge of software development is an advantage, but not absolutely necessary.
